US Coast Guard cyber rule: training and cyber officer
The Coast Guard's maritime cybersecurity rule took effect on 16 July 2025 for US-flagged vessels, facilities and outer continental shelf facilities regulated under MTSA. All personnel had to complete cybersecurity training by 12 January 2026 and yearly after that, and each owner or operator must have designated a Cybersecurity Officer. Reportable cyber incidents go to the National Response Center without delay.
