Fairway Business router with WAN failover and traffic priority
Keeps you online when a link fails, keeps the important traffic moving, and keeps the bill down while it does it.
Security that takes your business offline is not security. Fairway is the part of the gateway that decides how your traffic reaches the internet: which link it takes, what happens when that link dies, and which traffic gets priority when the pipe is full.
Give it more than one connection (fibre, 4G/5G, satellite) and it watches all of them continuously. When the primary degrades or drops, traffic moves to the next one without anybody being called. When it comes back, traffic moves home. Links can also be ranked by cost, so bulk transfers ride the cheap connection and only the traffic that matters falls back to the expensive one.
Priority works the same way. Video calls, voice and control traffic are protected from the backup job that would otherwise flatten them; bulk downloads are shaped so they use what is spare rather than what is needed. On a vessel or a remote site, where the link is narrow and metered, this is often the difference between a usable connection and an unusable one.
Fairway also runs the practical plumbing around all of that: guest and visitor access issued as vouchers, published services reachable from outside on the ports you nominate, name resolution that keeps working when the upstream does not, and, where a satellite terminal is fitted, position and link quality read directly from the dish.
What Fairway does
Automatic failover
Links are monitored continuously; traffic moves to a healthy one and back again without intervention.
Cost-aware routing
Bulk traffic takes the cheap link. The expensive one is there for when it is actually needed.
Priority that holds
Calls, video and control traffic keep their share of a busy or narrow connection.
Guest and visitor access
Time-limited vouchers for guests and crew, on a network kept apart from your business systems.
- Multi-link connectivity with automatic, tested failover between fibre, mobile and satellite
- Cost policies so bulk traffic never lands on the most expensive link by accident
- Traffic priority that protects calls, video and operational systems under load
- Guest access, published services and resilient name resolution, all from the same appliance
Business continuity of network services and the availability side of network and system security.
And IMO maritime cyber resilience: IACS UR E26/E27
IACS UR E26 §4.2 / §4.5: resilient network design and the ability to keep operating, or fall back safely, when a link is lost.
