The CMMC contract rule took effect on 10 November 2025. Contracts that involve federal contract information or controlled unclassified information can require a CMMC Level 1 or Level 2 self-assessment recorded in SPRS, with an annual affirmation. Phase 2, which would have required third-party certification from 10 November 2026, was suspended on 13 July 2026; self-assessments stay in force.
