Let's Encrypt certificates no longer valid for client authentication
Let's Encrypt removed the TLS client authentication extended key usage from its certificates: from an opt-in chain on 11 February 2026 and from every certificate on 13 May 2026. Systems that used a Let's Encrypt certificate to authenticate a client to a server (mutual TLS between sites, devices or services) need certificates from another source.
