The Packaging Regulation has applied since 12 August 2026 and replaces the old directive with directly applicable rules: minimum recycled content, recyclability grades, labelling, limits on empty space and bans on some single-use formats, with dates staggered to 2030 and beyond. Anyone who packs goods for the EU market is a producer with extended responsibility.
