Maritime EU Law

The phase-in ends with 2026 emissions: shipping companies must surrender allowances for 100% of their verified 2026 emissions by 30 September 2027. The verified 2026 emissions report is due by 31 March 2027. From this cycle on, the full carbon cost of voyages to, from and between EU/EEA ports applies every year. The Commission has to report by 31 December 2026 on bringing ships under 5,000 GT into the ETS.
