AI Act: most obligations apply

General application · Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (AI Act) · European Commission

MaritimeIndustryInfrastructure EU Law

The AI Act became applicable on 2 August 2026. Prohibited practices and the AI literacy duty have applied since February 2025, and the rules for general-purpose AI models since August 2025. From August 2026 the transparency rules apply: people must be told when they interact with an AI system, and generated content has to be marked. The Commission's AI Omnibus, in force since 27 July 2026, moved the high-risk deadlines back.
